We use high-grade blades that can handle stapes, credit cards, and CD's. We do recommend removing staples to increase the lifespan of the shredder.
Is there a 'REVERSE' function?
Yes, there are three options on this unit: 'FORWARD,' 'REVERSE,' and 'AUTO.' If you would like to remove a document that has been partially shredded, move the switch to 'REVERSE' and you will be able to salvage whatever hasn't gone through the blades yet.
Is there a cool-down period?
Yes. To prevent overheating, there is a 30 minute cool-down period after 2 minutes of continuous shredding. This feature drastically increases the longevity of the shredder.
How often should I apply lubricant to the blades?
It depends on how often you shred documents. If you regularly use the unit, we typically recommend applying lubricant to the blades after every other session. If you only shred documents a couple of times a week, then lubricating the blades every three weeks or so will suffice.
